Weekly Tarot Reading

This week’s reading comes from the Universal Waite Tarot, also known as the Rider-Waite Tarot. This deck is a standard tarot deck and is perfect for the first reading of the semester. The meanings of the cards have been interpreted from Tarot: Your Personal Guide by Steven Bright. 

Aquarius (Jan. 20—Feb. 18): The Two of Pentacles. This week will be busy; your schedule will seem more packed than you can handle, and you will find yourself overwhelmed. Remember that your stress is temporary. You can do this. This card represents finding balance, keeping up with commitments and responsibilities, and coping.  

Pisces (Feb. 19—March 20): The Star. Though you have been stressed or under pressure, there is a light ahead. You will find calm and respite this week. You will be given a time of rest and recuperation for your struggles and effort so far. You’ve made it. This card represents inspiration, hope, joy and light.  

Aries (March 21—April 19): The Eight of Cups. This week, you will be given a chance to step out of your comfort zone. You may feel like you aren’t being challenged or that you no longer have excitement in a certain aspect of your life, and if taken this step will give you the edge you are looking for. This card represents leaving things behind, moving on and changes. 

Taurus (April 20—May 20): The Two of Swords. Something in your life is frozen in place, and you are being faced with a choice. Whichever option you choose, let your common sense and rational thought rule over your emotions. If you can’t, seek a third party to help with your decision. This card represents rationality, clear thought and choices. 

Gemini (May 21—June 20): The Four of Wands. You will have a cause to celebrate this week, be it a streak of good luck or a fortunate event. Don’t be blinded by this and don’t let down your guard—this luck can turn sour in an instant, or not give you the result you imagined. This card represents luck, temporary stability, and accomplishments. 

Cancer (June 21—July 22): The Seven of Pentacles. You must be patient this week. The harvest is not reaped in a day, and your situation will not be fruitful immediately. Invest your time and energy into people and things you love, and you will be rewarded. This card represents patience, long-term goals and rewards. 

Leo (July 23—Aug. 22): The Seven of Cups. Many different options will be available for you this week. Be wary of trying to take advantage of too many, or simply daydreaming about the possibilities. These opportunities will vanish quickly, so be decisive and rational. This card represents temporary options, confusion, and decisions. 

Virgo (Aug. 23—Sept. 22): The Queen of Cups. You need to communicate with the people in your life, and that will become apparent this week. You are encouraged to reach out and seek help with confronting your emotions. This card represents emotions, communication and instinctual action. 

Libra (Sept. 23—Oct. 22): The Six of Pentacles. You will receive much-needed aid in some way this week, be it emotional or financial. It may not be in the way you expect or want. You should focus on balance this week in terms of finances and personal time. This card represents financial assistance, harmony and returning balance. 

Scorpio (Oct. 23—Nov. 21): The Two of Wands. You’re planning for the future in some way, and this week you are being encouraged to take that first leap into the unknown. Be careful to plan well before you jump, however. This card represents foresight, planning and thinking of the future. 

Sagittarius (Nov. 22—Dec. 21): The Ten of Cups. Be grateful for who and what you have in your life right now. You will be content this week in the knowledge that the happiness you crave for the future is already with you. This card represents conclusions, fulfillment, and stability. 

Capricorn (Dec. 22—Jan. 19): Judgement. You will face a period of intense self-reflection this week, and it is entirely needed for you to progress in your journey. You may not necessarily face change, but you will come to a realization about something in your life that reinforces something you believe or love. This card represents reflection, significance and transformative mental changes.
