Student Art Spotlight: Shannon O’Brien (March 5, 2021)

I’m Shannon O’Brien and am currently a BFA student with a concentration in photography and compliments in both drawing and sculpture. In my many mediums, I use my work to connect to the viewer and speak to them in a language I am most comfortable in, art.

My work tends to explain and express how I feel in a moment of time. In photography last semester, I focused on my emotional frustrations created by the global pandemic.

While in my drawings I am currently working on, I am conveying the reflection of emotions. Looking back at old pictures and drawing them after the fact, knowing what happened after the fact these photos were taken.

Showing a change in emotional perception. I am interested in combining the mediums I
work best in. In sculpture I experience this idea by exploring the use of videos.
