Cardinals pull a 1-0 win over Brockport

The Plattsburgh State men’s hockey team moves to 2-0-0 after beating Brockport (0-2-0) 1-0 Friday night.

The Cardinals kept up the offensive attack all night with Brockport’s goalie Jared Lockhurt turning away 33 of the 34 shots he faced.

After a scoreless first period where PSUC out-shot Brockport 14-6, the tie was broken by defenseman Rich Bottling with an assist by fellow defenseman Anthony Calabrese.

The rest of the game remained scoreless as the Cards’ defense was able to push back Brockport through the entire game with Brady Rouleau, in his first PSUC start, saving the 22 shots he faced. The Cards did struggle on the power play, going 0-5 Friday night.

Brockport was unable to score in the power play, missing opportunities in the two chances they had.

Tonight marks the Cards’ fifth-straight win over the Golden Eagles dating back to the 2011-12 season.

Plattsburgh looks to continue its winning streak as they face Geneseo to take on the Knights in a highly-anticipated matchup of two of the top SUNYAC teams.
