The Plattsburgh State women’s hockey team hit the road to Neumann College where they were able to pick up their first ECAC West victory 3-1.
The Cardinals got on the board 9:31 into the first when Freshman Kayla Meneghin scored her second of the season giving PSUC a 1-0 lead, which held throughout the first.
Neumann would immediately come into the second period, 38 seconds in, when Bek Lucas was able to score it past Ally Ross, tying the score.
Senior Morgan MacInnis would respond for the Cardinals as she found the net for her first goal of the season, recapturing the lead 2-1 12:16 into the second.
Then Melissa Sheernan would provide another goal, bringing the lead to 3-1.
Ross made 15 saves on 16 shots helping the Cards move to 2-0-1 (1-0-0 ECACW) while Justina Mayr made 42 saves for the Knights in a losing effort as Neumann falls to 0-3-0 (0-3-0 ECACW).
The Cards and Knights will have a rematch Sunday at 2 p.m. with PSUC looking for the weekend sweep.
