Graduation countdown closing in

With the 86 pieces I’ve written for Cardinal Points over the past two years at an estimated word count of 625 per article or column, I have written about 53,750 words for this newspaper.
Despite that, I can’t find the words to describe how it feels to leave this place behind.

I started CP in the fall 2014 semester, and honestly, I was intimidated at first. I didn’t really know anyone. But my first editor, Brittany, helped me hone my skills and gave me the confidence to go on.

Spending time with my co-workers and friends was the highlight of this journey. I’m glad I got to know each of you.
Marissa, you have grown a lot this semester. If it weren’t for you writing two to three articles a week, I would have lost my mind. You were by my side almost every day in the office. Thank you for everything.

Bailey, what can I say, man? You helped me bleed beige and break dance in a strange Texas club that shares its name with a brand of cereal. Life doesn’t get more interesting than that!
Lisa, both you and Bailey stepped up when we needed strong leaders more than ever. If you guys end up taking over the world, please do so before I am put into a retirement home. I want to be coherent to watch the awesomeness happen.

There are about 691,200 seconds until graduation, and I feel the seconds disappearing. The midnight hours we have spent in the CP office will one day be a distant memory, and I find myself desperately trying to soak up every moment.

No matter what, CP will always be a part of me. Thank you all for making this experience one of the best I’ve ever had.
