Student Association opens for the fall semester

The Student Association had its first meeting of the fall semester last Wednesday.

The approval and swearing in of new Senate Officers took place, those being Senators Ibrahim Diallo, Moko Soumano and Symone Thomas.

“This year, since I’m used to college and stuff like that, I want to get out there more, join clubs, so I thought this would be a great opportunity,” sophomore psychology major and new Senate Officer Symone Thomas said.  “I hope to create a bond with everybody and just make a change, a positive change.”

The SA approved Gabrielle McGinley for the position of the Board of Elections Chairperson.

The Campus Garden Club lowered their original $550.00 budget to $525.00 in regards to their annual harvest event. Saturday Sept. 14, the club is having its second annual harvest event.

“We have five bands playing at the garden, which is at the end of the rugby field and, we’re just gonna be doing tours of the garden, having live music and serving food we made from all the hard work we did over the summer,” senior nursing major Roxy Jacone said.

Jacone and junior environmental science major and Secretary of the Campus Garden Club Chloe Bashy were very happy about their recent approval by the SA.

Jacone said she was ecstatic.

“Simpler than I thought,” Bashy added.

The SA holds its meetings every Wednesday at 9:15 pm in the Cardinal Lounge of the Angell College Center.
