Student Association approves ACB member

Plattsburgh State Activities Coordination Board retained its co-chairs and approved a new member for this semester.

As Vice President of Activities, Lauren Safford heads ACB and its five departments, athletics, FENT, special events, coffee house and promotions.

On Wednesday, four co-chairs were reapproved while one was approved to serve her first term.

“I’ve seen what they can do,” Safford said. “I have confidence in them to run these departments.”

Many events on campus are organized by subcommittees of ACB in order to get students involved in active on campus.

Shane Rapping and Emanuel Paun have been approved as ACB Athletics Co-Chairs, which work with Red Zone to get students to athletic events as one of their responsibilities.

Cecelia Kelly was approved as first-time co-chair of ACB FENT. The film, entertainment, novelty and travel subcommittee hosts events such as movie nights, day trips, and small craft events like making stuffed animals last Wednesday.

Morayooluwa Okesola was approved as ACB Special Events Co-Chairs. Last semester, Okesola and her board organized the President’s Gala and this semester is planning the Spring Formal.

Coffee House, the open mic night every Wednesday in Burgy’s Lounge outside of Subway, is now headed by second-time co-chairs Dylan Poje and Kim Stewart.

Victoria Torres was reapproved as ACB Promotions Chair, and is responsible for producing posters and other promotions for the ACB events.

Safford recognizes that the reappointments were a formality with the Student Association and is looking forward to working with her subcommittee chairs to keep PSUC students entertained.

Also on Wednesday Papa Dieye and Elena Panagiotou, became voting members for the Clubs and Organizations Affairs Board after being involved in the board and attending events.

The SA holds its weekly meeting every Wednesday at 9:15 p.m. in the Cardinal Lounge of the Angell College Center.
