Plattsburgh State to offer pass/fail options to students starting April 13

Plattsburgh State will offer pass/fail options to undergraduate students starting April 13, David Hill, provost and vice president for academic affairs, wrote in an email sent to all students Friday.

Pass/fail options are not available to graduate students.

Hill encouraged students to talk with their academic advisers on how choosing the pass/fail options for their courses can affect grade point average calculations, graduate honors, graduate school applications, course transfers and minimum grades in professional programs.

The college modified grading policies “in order to hold [students] harmless from the disruption caused by COVID-19,” Hill wrote in his email.

Academic dismissals will also be suspended for the spring semester. Students who fall below a GPA of 2.0 will automatically be offered reinstatement to PSU as a part of academic probation on the condition they join academic support programs next semester. Students who decide not to come back on probation will be offered the opportunity to withdraw from PSU rather than be dismissed.
