Editorial: Simple solutions to stress

With the third week of school wrapping up, students have begun to get into a daily routine. Hopefully, they can attend their classes and have enough time to complete assignments while still having time to hang out with friends and let off some steam.

We at Cardinal Points wholeheartedly understand what it’s like to be students, while still trying to maintain a social life. It can be hard. Conflicting schedules, extracurricular commitments and projects can make it feel like you don’t have the same 24 hours a day that everyone else has.

In Hilly Nguyen’s article, “The balancing act,” PSUC’s Health and Alcohol and Other Drug Educator Janis Krug advised students to relax by doing something they enjoy. Whether it’s watching Netflix alone in bed or spending time with friends outdoors, everyone has something that helps them unwind.

The Plattsburgh community has countless outdoor activities to take part in including mountain hikes and ferry rides to Vermont. There is no shortage of fresh air to help calm nerves.

PSUC campus has numerous resources for students looking to relieve stress. From the fitness center to clubs and organizations, students have the opportunity to be kids again and to forget the many stressors that come with college.

Mental, emotional and physical well-being should be the top priority. Students are getting overwhelmed earlier and earlier in the semester and may not know about the different outlets in which they can access to set their worries aside. Don’t be afraid to try new things, while also eliminating things that may stress you out.
