Don’t stress, try your best

Acing your semester can be a challenge. You have to manage a million responsibilities all at once, while also dealing with it being away from family support.

In Sasha Delva’s article in FUSE, she writes about how to ace your semester and manage stress.

It’s easy to get overwhelmed by all the classes you have to take, as well as manage your social life. You’re busy juggling classes all your classes and extracurriculars during the week and by the time, the weekend comes, you want to just let loose a little bit. Then Sunday rolls around, and you’re panicking in the libray, which by the way is your home on Sundays.

First, know you’re not alone. Everyone is very stressed and trying to maintain that balance between classes and relaxation. Second, do not panic. You can cry about a situation, complain about a situation and rant on and on about how your life sucks, but in reality, you’re still going to have to face a problem head on. So try not to dwell on the stress. It only creates more.

Make a checklist. Buy a nice planner. Organization is a very underrated skill. It prevents you from missing that club meeting or forgetting about your group project. Also, don’t be afraid to reach out for help. Being transparent with your professors might be daunting, but they’re here to help you out and help you succeed in life. Don’t feel like you’re alone because they can be a great resource.

That being said, call your parents every now and then. There’s something very soothing about hearing mom tell you “It’s going to be OK,” during one of your weekly meltdowns. FaceTime with old friends, and keep your new ones in the loop. If there’s one thing every college student can relate to, it’s stress.

Keep all these in mind, and you’ll be OK. Also, classes are important, but make sure your happiness and health always comes first.
