Donald Trump: America’s guilty pleasure

The man who starred in the show “The Apprentice” and is known for saying “you’re fired” on national television wants to be in charge of America.

Is it really a bad thing? After all, it was his attitude that got him noticed in this campaign, and he always has a valid comeback for things people throw at him that are supposed to be an insult. People might think he’s outrageous, but with the way things are in our country, I think we need some dramatic change. We need someone who knows what they’re doing and how to fix things, and Trump has a plan for all of it.

An estimated 24 million viewers watched the first Republican debate of 2015 because of Trump. Whether people are interested in seeing that Donald Trump is actually running for president or because they’re true supporters, he’s already won most people’s attention.

Trump is funding his own campaign, and he’s not wasting anyone’s time. He’s a businessman, not a politician, and he has a fresh angle on how to “make America great again.” He once tweeted: “By self-funding my campaign, I am not controlled by my donors, special interests or lobbyists. I am only working for the people of the U.S.!”

Trump’s main positions are tax reform, Second Amendment rights and immigration reform. He may not be a politician, but he’s really hitting the nail on the head with the issues we actually need fixed.

Some people think he’s racist because of statements he’s made regarding illegal Mexican immigrants, but those he described as “uneducated criminals” are the people Mexico doesn’t want in their country, so why should we?

If elected president, Trump has tax reforms planned. He wants to provide tax relief for middle class Americans, simplify the tax code, grow the American economy and avoid adding to our debt and deficit. Trump believes everything is too complicated right now and wants to simplify it. He’ll make taxes fair to everyone by simplifying the current seven tax brackets to four.

Second Amendment rights are important to Trump — protecting our freedoms is imperative. Trump is going to make sure that violent criminals are punished as they should be and believes drug dealers and gang members need more than a slap on the wrist when they’re caught.

To keep the streets safer, Trump wants to enforce something similar to Project Exile. If a violent felon uses a gun to commit a crime, he or she will be prosecuted in federal court and go to prison for five years — no parole or early release. This program helped the rate of murders committed with guns decrease by 60 percent in Richmond, Virginia, helping get criminals off the streets.

Immigration reform seems to be what most Americans are so critical about when it comes to Trump. On his campaign website, he explains what makes a nation: borders, laws and serving the citizens. He believes “any immigration plan must improve jobs, wages and security for all Americans.”

Crime rates throughout the country have been low, but the one area of crime that has not dropped like the others are those tied to illegal immigration. According to an FBI study, 75 percent of those on the most wanted list in Los Angeles, Phoenix and Albuquerque are illegal aliens. Seeing how this isn’t just happening in one place should put it into perspective that it’s hurting the nation as a whole.

Trump wants to give jobs back to Americans and make the crime rates go down by getting rid of the illegal immigrants who made them go up in the first place. Illegal immigration cause U.S. taxpayers to support aliens financially. I don’t know about you, but I would like to keep my money and not hand it over to someone living off the system.

Trump has described undocumented Mexican immigrants as “uneducated criminals.” One thing we don’t need in this country is people who aren’t even wanted by their native country. These people are criminals. You’re right, a nation isn’t a nation without borders. Go ahead and build that wall, Donald. I agree that we should make them pay for the mess they’ve made.
